A Domain Alias is a secondary domain that you have configured to forward to your primary domain.

If you expect to receive e-mail addressed to mailboxes at more than one domain, but want the e-mail delivered to a single mailbox, then you should use a domain alias.
Spam Filtering blocks inbound messages which are detected as spam, and places them in a quarantine.

Individual mailbox users may log into their Inbox Sentry control panel, and view/delete/release any messages which have been placed in the quarantine.
Virus Filtering blocks inbound messages which are detected as viruses, and discards them.
Load Balancing uses a cluster of servers to process inbound e-mail messages.
Statistical Graphs provide a quick glance at how many messages are being blocked by the filter.
The Simple Management Interface allows you to access all functions of your Inbox Sentry account, including:
The End User Interface allows individual mailbox users to access the following functions:
Retention Period is the amount of time that each blocked message will be archived in the Inbox Sentry database. After this time period has expired for a message, that message will be permanently deleted.
Mailbox Limit is the maximum number of e-mail addresses which can be configured for your domain. E-mail sent to any other addresses at the domain will be rejected.
For a limit period of time, we are offering a FREE 30 Day Trial of the Inbox Sentry spam filtering solution.

Inbox Sentry incorporates a powerful cloud-based filtering engine and uses a variety of mechanisms including header and text analysis, bayesian filtering, DNS blocklists, and collaborative filtering databases to remove spam and viruses from your inbox.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Why should I use this external spam filtering service? Doesn't my server already have spam filtering?

If your domain is receiving a large volume of spam e-mail, it is likely causing an unnecessary burden on your server, and slowing down other operations on the server, such as handling web and database queries.

For shared hosting accounts, large volumes of e-mail processing may consume excessive resources and require that you upgrade to a virtual or dedicated server. For dedicated servers, such e-mail processing may require you to purchase a higher end server to handle the load. By using this service, you reduce overall expenses and have a high-quality spam filtering solution. We have a custom designed and load balanced spam filtering cluster to handle the task of filtering your e-mail.

2. How does this service work?

Our load balanced spam filtering cluster acts as a "man in the middle" for your domain's e-mail delivery. Mail is initially delivered to our servers, filtered, and the remaining "good" mail is forwarded on to your "real" mail server.

3. Can I configure spam filtering to filter and deliver e-mail for any user, so that it will be received by my catch-all mailbox?

No. The use of catch-all mailboxes results in a large volume of unnecessary CPU usage associated with filtering and delivery of spam e-mail. Therefore, individual recipient mailboxes must be defined.

4. What happens to messages that are flagged as spam by the spam filtering service?

Messages that are flagged as spam are saved for up to 7 days, and visible within your web interface. After a message has been saved for 7 days, it will be permanently deleted.

5. Will I still receive any spam after implementing your service?

Spammers are constantly changing their tactics to circumvent filters. For this reason, some spam may still be received after implementing our filtering service. We always keep our spam filtering systems up-to-date with the latest technologies to help avoid this. You may also adjust your filtering preferences to further reduce the amount of spam you receive.

6. Do mailbox users have access to a control panel for this filtering system?

Yes, we provide you with the ability to allow end users to access a control panel, where those users may view blocked messages, change filter sensitivity, and modify their individual whitelist and blacklist settings. However, you do not have to give mailbox users access to this control panel. You may maintain complete control of all settings at the domain level if you desire. The choice is yours.
